Morning Brief Thursday October 25, 2012

Good Morning. We have a lot of economic data today, including jobless claims and durable goods. The durables number will be interesting in the context of the epic slide lower in September. But September had  a difficult comparison associated with the timing of commercial aircraft orders. So it’s likely a decent rebound will be seen though it will be based on an easier comparison.

Today we also see AAPL earnings after the bell. The market is pricing in something with AAPL and it is not an earning surprise. Failure on AAPL’s part to surprise the street could be the last thing the tech sector needs right now. The fact that the model remains short AAPL (since 660) going into earnings is also interesting.
